Slug Guts or Liverbirds?

So a week after we noticed the uncanny similarity between photos of the Liverbirds (Liverpool hard-rocking 60s all-girl group) and of Slug Guts (Brisbane angular post-punk), we've changed our minds. It's actually quite different. Still worth noting.

Tonight's show:

We were joined by Tom Hall and Ian Rodgers from AxxOnn - a new experimental IDM two-piece who've prepared a completely DIY and mad-fun trip around Europe a month from now.

Tom from AXXONN said Paper, SciZzZors, Glue!! was awesome:

I like what you girls are doing, you rule!! Your show is really nice too, I totally forgot we were on radio."

They can have our show, if we can have their tour of Europe, if you know what I mean?

The other band which was amazing, was Taste of Teeth. Why? Nik came on to tell us about their tour of Japan, which took place earlier this year. The band were mentored in Japanese martial arts to improve their rhythm. They are worth lending an ear to. Really off the wall psychedelic stuff, always changing. Check them out HERE.

Flipper!

Thursday 11th June:

Steve dePace, drummer of legendary San Francisco punk rock band Flipper, joined us in the studio. We followed him later to watch their gig at the Step Inn. The end result? Karaoke flipper, with some of Brissy's best front-men giving it a whirl. The jury is out on whether or not it made for a good gig.

This shark played in Stumpy's band. The shark-impersonating lady is Ili.

This was the crustiest man there.

It was a great gig. The Insurgents are almost grown up and playing fantastic songs. They even broke out in a jam lasting longer than a minute!

Slug Guts are great, same drummer as Insurgents. The frontman was all over the place with a voice like a Killdozer. They were very sweet.

Six Foot Hick were ok, I got bored. The two singers are great together though. They should totally just pash. When Gentle Ben's pants split open it was unclear whether he was wearing underpants.
